The End of an Era and The Birth of a Dream
10 years ago today, I wrapped up a Semester in Spain living and learning in Sevilla. Good news: that trip literally changed my life and set my career in motion. Better news: now we're moving to Madrid!! Neither of us knows where this will take us in the long run, but we have been preparing to walk through this open door with open arms. I know that mental picture sounds painful, but you get the idea.
Chicago area has been home base for both of us since we met at age 14. Now married for two years, we’re packing our bags and aiming to make Madrid our temporary home. We touchdown in September, but our hearts and minds have already started to transition. Both of us have made incredible memories traveling and studying abroad, but this is a whole new level: a full year. We think that 2021 is a great time to roll the dice and see what life is like 'across the pond' since we're both vaccinated and ready for a new adventure.
La Universidad de Alcalá came highly recommended to us years ago and pursuing a Master’s in Bilingual and Multicultural Education should dovetail well with continuing a career in education. I’m excited to apply whatever is most useful from my 7 years in the classroom while working as a co-teacher aboard. Here's to new beginning and a whole lot of firsts!
